Hi all,
We were at the school again today continuing with the sports festival, and we had lots of fun!! The boys played a game of Rugby and we were amazed at how much the Malawians had learnt in such a short time. Dayne has been an excellent teacher!! Unfortunately the Malawians have learnt to tackle too well as both Dayne and Callum sustained minor injuries when they were tackled and fell on the rough ground. We are wondering why the Malawian boys do not seem to hurt themselves when they fall!
In Malawi we have discovered that the boys always get first chance at the sports so they were annoyed when we had a game of football for the girls. To make matters worse we gave the girls the strips we got from Nairn St Ninian so the boys were not at all happy. However, the girls enjoyed learning some new skills form Chloe and Lauren before playing a game. The festival ended with some volleyball where we discovered that the Malawians have very different rules from us. I think we would call their rules cheating!!
Every day we have had pupils from the nearby primary school leave their classes to come to watch. Chloe and Lauren used their excellent authoritarian voices to move them away from the playing area. I am not sure they understood Chloe instruction to, “Get off the pitch” which she said in her best Scottish accent.
For us the highlight of the day was talking to everyone and playing and watching the volleyball.
In the afternoon we went back to the market to do some wheeling and dealing again at the market!! Lots of money being saved and spent!! Donuts even bargained his tee shirt for a wooden map of Africa. Everyone is enjoying themselves trying to get a bargain.
Each day brings the team closer working together at the school and spending time watching Wimbledon in the evening or trying to prevent Calum MacLennan cheating at Scrabble!!
internet was down lastnight -photos for day 9 will be posted later

Sounds like you had another interesting fun day at the school! Can't wait to see all the bargains from the markets! Glad you are all getting a chance to see Wimbledon and able to unwind at night after your hectic day! The weather in Nairn has been great the last couple of days......but rain is forecast at end of week! keep up the good work and have fun! x
Hi it was great to be updated. Sounds like the market is getting lots of sales. Another nice day here in Nairn and warm too, I know you might find that difficult to believe but it's true. Look forward to seeing the photos later.

Ryan/Dayne - Ken Houston has been on the phone wondering if you are both keen to do your level 2 football he is trying to organise it for weekend 23rd August and 3rd September, I thought you would both be interested, he will keep in touch. jill x
You guys are having the experience of a lifetime by the looks of things. Sounds like the markets are doing a roaring trade with you all! Its great to be kept updated and share your daily updates. Keep up the good work. Hope the boys have recovered from their injuries.
